The Last Light Inn

This project involved creating a stylised animated environment for the client’s project, The Moonlight Tales. Titled The Last Light Inn, this scene was the first of three initial environments developed for the client.

The objective was to produce a cozy, softly lit setting with subtle environmental animation to support the projects sleep story content. As the client’s content is entirely handcrafted, all accompanying artwork was required to be created without the use of AI.

The visual direction followed a stylised, anime-inspired approach, with a focus on non-photorealistic rendering (NPR). The environment is intentionally minimal, composed of a small number of carefully designed assets.

Hard-surface assets were modelled in Blender, foliage was created in SpeedTree, and the final scene was rendered in Unreal Engine 5. Materials are primarily driven by custom shader work in UE5, with supporting texture work completed in Substance Painter and Substance Designer.

The only external asset used was the Stylized Dynamic Sky and Weather System by SoStylized (Fab).
